Tricky garden plot with few features
This garden was every home owners nightmare.
It was North facing, with the ground falling away from the house and a new housing development in the near distance. The soil was typical Crowborough clay, lying wet in places, and some of the large laurels which had been planted by a contractor along the fence line needed new placing as they had not been planted to advantage.
The Brief
- They wanted the garden to be easily maintainable
- From their patio the clients looked out over the garden to a new development below which they wanted screened off.
- To create something attractive from the existing features.
The Outcome
- Areas of dense planting have reduced mowing on the steep slopes
- Plants suitable for conditions have created year round interest
- Screening effect of suitable trees will take effect within a few years
What The Client Says
"Presented with the challenge of a rather bare north-facing and sloping garden, Mary provided a design which gives variety and interest, complementing the woodland surroundings.
We look forward to watching it mature over the next few years into a very attractive landscape."
