What is the role of a garden designer?
The role of the garden designer is mixed and varied, needing skills ranging from spatial awareness to extensive plant knowledge, not to mention a flair for design!
Each of my clients have different homes and lifestyles, and therefore differing needs and aspirations for their gardens.
The challenge and fulfilment for me as a garden designer is to know that my clients' lifestyles have been immeasurably enhanced by the garden I have designed for them.
Initial comments I receive from clients range from lack of privacy, a serious challenge, overwhelming, too high maintenance and lack of interest to needing safety for young children or wheelchair access and a need for more car parking space.
I take all relevant aspects into account as I design each project. By offering a bespoke service I am able to create stunning and individual gardens fit for purpose.
During the progress of each garden design project, I address the practical issues involved then develop the creative aspects.
These include both choice of suitable hard landscaping materials as well as planting schemes which will create three dimensional colour and texture for year round impact.
It gives me immense pleasure to see the dramatic effects that my garden designs have on the lives of my clients.
Their delight in living with order and beauty where there was once chaos outside is palpable!
Expressions such as "total transformation", "hugely imaginative design", "married the design to our house and lifestyle" to "attention to detail" are all testimonials which speak for themselves.
