Italian-inspired colour and scents
When the client inherited the garden from her mother, it was given mainly over to fruit and vegetables.
- The client wanted a lovely 'low maintenance' garden, without a lawn, and with at least one seating area.
- Curves were to be included, and an Italian feel.
- There was one fruit tree, a greengage, to be kept, and some privacy was wanted – the border fence was only one metre high on one side
- A hidden area for the dustbins was needed – as there was not enough space down the side access
"Mary Stevenson came over for at least two detailed consultations during the design process, when we discussed what I wanted for the garden.
When she showed me the finished plans, I was more than happy to approve them. I went ahead with the design and I am most delighted with the results.
The garden has given me and my friends a great deal of pleasure. It has been lovely to see the trees and shrubs embed themselves and grow so rapidly.
When summer arrives, the garden is overflowing with brilliant colours and the scent of the Rosa rugosa.
I was not expecting to see much of a change in one year, but as can be seen from the photographs, the plantings have grown & prospered so much already.
So I am looking forward to the many coming years of happiness that the garden will give me."
