Chelsea Flower Show treat for garden designer

Mary Stevenson Garden Design was represented at this year's Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show.

Business owner Mary joined the British Association of Landscape Industries stand and enjoyed talking to visitors about the work she does.

She said: "Often people have no idea of the process involved in garden design. I talked about the design process, the build and how both elements need to be carried out by qualified people."

Mary stressed the importance of BALI, saying members were accepted only after rigorous vetting. She used the association’s directory to find reliable contractors among fellow members as she worked across the country.

She added: "It's been extremely rewarding to run my own garden design service during the last ten years. The experience I gained in my formative years within the industry has been indispensible as it underpins the service I now offer."

"There is no substitute for 'hands on' experience and it's something I recommend for anyone wishing to enter the profession of garden design."

Mary, pictured here on the BALI stand, also enjoyed the opportunity to admire the work displayed by fellow horticulturists at the Chelsea Flower Show, network with contractors and suppliers and simply soak up the atmosphere at this special event.
